Museum of Science & History Receives $500,000 Grant from PNC Foundation to Expand Early Learning Programs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 28, 2026) The Museum of Science & History has received a $500,000 grant from the PNC Foundation to expand its early childhood education programs, reinforcing a shared commitment to education, community growth and the continued revitalization of downtown Jacksonville. This milestone contribution brings PNC’s total investment to $1 million through the Museum’s capital campaign, which aims to create a world-class cultural destination on the Northbank of the St. Johns River.

The grant will enhance the Museum’s early learning programs and fund the creation of an Early Learning Pathway within the new Museum. Designed for children under age 5, this interactive experience will feature hands-on STEAM exhibits, outdoor exploration spaces and educational resources that foster cognitive, creative and social development. The pathway will be featured on museum maps and digital platforms, with educational signage and resources tailored to early learners.

“We are deeply grateful to PNC for their visionary partnership and unwavering support,” said Jill Davis, Board Chair of the Museum. “PNC’s continued commitment to bringing a transformative museum to Jacksonville is the latest milestone in our fundraising momentum. As we progress closer to our goals, we invite others to join us in shaping a cultural legacy for generations to come.”

PNC’s commitment to early childhood education closely aligns with the Museum’s mission to spark the joy of lifelong learning through science, culture and innovation. Through its signature philanthropic initiative, PNC Grow Up Great®, PNC has supported high-quality early childhood education for children from birth to age 5 for more than two decades, helping to prepare over 10 million children nationwide for success in school and life.

“At PNC, we understand how critical the early years are to a child’s development, and how important it is to give our youngest learners the chance to explore, grow and thrive,” said Chris Kalin, PNC regional president for North Florida, Museum board member and Transformation Committee chair. “This museum will always be a place where curiosity comes to life, and we’re excited to help ensure every child in our community has access to the type of educational experiences that can shape their future.”

During the Museum’s transition period, it will continue to deliver a broad range of programs through community events and mobile outreach, including STEAM educational resources dedicated to providing young minds throughout the community with access to inspiring hands-on experiences. PNC employees will also have opportunities to volunteer with these early learning programs.

The Museum’s capital campaign continues to build momentum, with fundraising nearing $100 million. The Museum and the surrounding park will serve as a dynamic cultural anchor for Jacksonville’s Northbank, nearly tripling visitation and in total creating more than seven acres of immersive indoor and outdoor learning experiences. Designed to foster curiosity, creativity and connection, this location will blend science, history and the natural environment, offering visitors an unrivaled destination for discovery and engagement.
