Talking Circles

It is hard to talk about race. Conversations are likely to touch upon power and privilege, fear and anger, hope and disappointment. Under most circumstances, discussions about race can become heated and emotional, so it's easier to avoid the topic. Talking Circles facilitated by trained professionals provide a safe and open environment where people will listen and freely share their different thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions. People who participate in Talking Circles are learning more about themselves and others and developing new levels of respecting and caring. Talking Circles are presented by the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission and Friends of Study Circles. To sign up for one of the following Talking Circles at MOSH, email specialevents@themosh.org or call 396.MOSH (6674) ext. 229.

Thursday, April 25, 6 p.m. at MOSH. Register Here.

Bring a Fresh Approach to Your Company’s Diversity Initiative

RACE: Are We So Different? provides a unique opportunity to train your staff on diversity-related topics. Whether you are creating a company-wide program or looking to enhance your existing initiative, giving your employees the opportunity to interact with this exhibit and then participate in a facilitated dialogue offers a unique and enlightening experience.

This exhibit at the Museum of Science & History can be a safe environment to explore what we think we know about race and culture, challenge the perceptions we hold, and understand what is grounded in science and what isn’t. Augmented with local artifacts and experiences, your employees are free to consider the role that race plays in our community.

Schedule your group for a 90-minute tour of the exhibition, followed by a 90-minute facilitated dialogue. Group dialogue will be led by a professional consulting team.

The RACE: Are We So Different? exhibit provides a solid platform for exploring human similarities while respecting and appreciating differences.

For more information or to book a tour please contact Faythe VanPelt at specialevents@themosh.org or call 396.MOSH (6674) ext. 240.
