Background: Project Timeline

June 28th, 2001 - Deadline for applications. This year the panel approves only 11 applications for the entire world (including the MOSH).

July 16th, 2001 - The teams are notified of their status and invited to the Orientation Conference in Washington, D.C.

September 21st, 2001 - Representatives of each team attend the Orientation Conference. The program is explained and the teams get to meet each other.

September 22nd, 2001 - The teams are awarded the mini-grant to fund the program activities and receive Sony CD Mavica cameras for imaging support.

October 30th, 2001 - The MOSH visits Rufus Payne Elementary to take some initial photographs and open a dialog with the participating teachers.

November 20th, 2001 - Official unveiling of the MOSH's online workbench for 2002 International Public Science Day. You are visiting that site right now.

December 6th, 2001 - MOSH Science Program Specialist, James Vail, visits Rufus Payne Elementary to cover SSS # 1 : Energy Transformations.

January 8th, 2002 - Second outreach covering SSS # 2 : The Interaction of Matter and Energy.

February 4th, 2002 - Third and final outreach covering SSS # 3 : The Flow of Energy in a Transportation System.

March 14th, 2002 - International Public Science Day Celebration at the MOSH. The participating classes from Rufus Payne Elementary come to the MOSH to present their Energy in Transportation projects to the public.

March 29th, 2002 - Deadline for "complete" project webspace. Video and other visual evidence of March 14th's event are made available to the public.

April 2nd, 2002 - Judging Panel meets to evaluate the online workbenches of all IPSD participants.

April 5th, 2002 - The winner for "The Unisys Prize for Online Science Education" is announced.

April 10th, 2002 - Final reports due to the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
