Do It Yourself: Lesson Plans

Classrooms BEFORE the IPSD came to Rufus PayneHere you will find three lesson plans which detail the MOSH's visits to Rufus Payne Elementary School. They lay out the structure of the class and allow ample opportunities for the students to interact with both the educator and the tools (some would call them toys) of science. In addition to following the structure described below, all words in italics are part of the dialog between the educator and the students. Finally, to KWL with your students means to have an introductory discussion with them about the subject matter and stands for "kids Know, what you Want them to know, what they Learn

The lessons have the following structure:

  1. Objective: Describing the overall theme of the lesson
  2. Materials: Listing the various materials called for in enacting the lesson
  3. Introduction: These are the points with which to open the lesson
  4. Procedures: Instructions on what to do and how to do them
  5. Evaluation: Closing points and the objectives which have been achieved
