Do It Yourself: Evolution: March 16th, 2002

The teachers from Rufus Payne Elementary collaborated to rate their experience with the IPSD. They submitted a review which rated an overall "Great". Here is what they said...

The Feedback:

The quality of your visits to Rufus Payne were topnotch. You did a great job of covering the Sunshine State Standards. We really want to participate in any projects like this again in the future! Our kids really enjoyed the programs and learned alot about energy and transportation. Some improvements we'd like to see are:

  1. A narrower theme for the project, so we can focus more on social issues
  2. A page with samples of student work posted

Response:

Thank you very much for providing your insights into our IPSD program (since we know how busy teachers are!). Even more, thank you and your students for participating this year!

Our theme for this year's IPSD project began as a broad idea, inspired by the Orientation Seminar we attended. Since it was our first year promoting IPSD we had very general thoughts on how to implement such an ambitious project. This project evolved into the application of Energy in Transportation (mostly due to your student's responses to our outreaches). In addition, our next IPSD program will be much more focused at its inception and will more fully incorporate our community and society. As for a page with samples of student work, your wish is granted! In addition to posting photos of each class's IPSD projects, each outreach narrative (first, second and third) will feature selected journal entries made by students who expressed interest in being published!
