Skies Over Jacksonville

soj-logo-med-web

Planetarium technology has changed a lot over the past ten years, with programs becoming more sophisticated and immersive. And while the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium is proud to have the latest in digital audio-visual capabilities, we have not forgotten the fundamental purpose of a planetarium — depicting a realistic night sky.

We are therefore proud to offer the program “Skies Over Jacksonville,” a detailed live star show. While all planetarium presentations at the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium include a brief tour of the heavens, “Skies Over Jacksonville” is dedicated totally to the wonders of backyard stargazing.

Visitors will join our planetarium educator in a journey across the sky as bright stars, asterisms, constellations and other surprises are identified and discussed. The presentation environment is that of a forum, not a lecture, so guests are encouraged to ask questions and participate in the adventure!

“Skies Over Jacksonville” is recommended for ages 4 and up.
