2007-2008 Online Teachers' Guide
Physical Science Program Selections

The following are the descriptions of the physical science programs offered by MOSH. Please read the descriptions carefully. For your convenience, we have included Sunshine State Standards (SSS) for Science in each description. The programs described below are available to groups of 35 students or more. Please see the Small Groups page if your group is less than 35 students.

Extreme Science Laboratory (Grades K-12)

Sit in on the zany experiments conducted in our MOSH scientist's laboratory! Our MOSH scientist may even let your students help with the experiments! Learn that science can be fun in this exciting interactive program.

SSS:

  • Science - Force and Motion - 1 & 2
  • The Nature of Science - 1

Universe of Science (Grades 4-12)

Rediscover the Universe of Science in this program that takes a behind-the-scenes look at the wild world of physics. Create energy on MOSH's Generator Bike, see the gravity-defying effects of pulley reduction, and experience sound waves like never before!

SSS:

  • Science - Force and Motion - 1 & 2
  • The Nature of Science - 1
  • Energy - 1

What's the Matter? (Grades 1-4)

From solids to liquids to gases-see matter change before your very eyes. Your students will become bouncing molecules, feel the chill of cold liquid nitrogen as it boils at room temperature and help our scientists melt solids.

SSS:

  • Science - The Nature of Matter - 1 & 2

Wild Weather (Grades 3-8)

Science will take your students by storm as we create clouds and explore lightning. Find out what is inside a tornado, what makes thunder, and how hurricanes are formed. Learn how meteorologists study and attempt to predict the powerful forces of our weather.

SSS:

  • Science - Energy - 1
  • Processes that Shape the Earth - 1
  • The Nature of Science - 1 & 3

Volts and Jolts (Grades 3-12)

What is electricity? Where does it come from and how does it work? Have a shocking experience as you explore the electricity that runs your TV, creates lightning in the sky, and causes light bulbs to light in mid-air.

SSS:

  • Science - Energy - 1
  • The Nature of Matter - 2
